Coop Himmelb(l)au High School for the Visual and Performing Arts
A truncated, asymmetrical cone collects and enhances the energies which revolve in and around it.Coop Himmelb(l)au

By breaking up the student body into four so-called "academies," each specializing in one of the arts, a closer and more personal environment between teachers and students is created. Each academy occupies a distinct building which houses the art studios next to general classrooms, administration spaces and teachers workrooms.

Santiago Calatrava Tenerife Concert Hall Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

The auditorium is located on the waterfront in the Los Llanos are of Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife. Situated between the Marine Park and the edge of the port, the auditorium connects the city to the ocean and creates a significant urban landmark.

The all-concrete building is characterized by the dramatic sweep of its roof. Rising off the base like a crashing wave, the roof soars to a height of 58 meters over the main auditorium before curving downward and narrowing to a point. The building's plinth forms a public plaza covering the site and allows for changes in grade between the different levels of the adjacent roads.

There are four main elements which constitute the base of Alejandro Zaera Polo and Farshid Moussavi's projects. These are as follows:
Function (Information), Matter (Behavior), Technique (Modalities), and Organization (Regimen).
Describing these four elements, the article adds that the fundamental approach of Zaera Polo and Moussavi is onetending to transform the ground into 'an active surface, a built-up layout plan from which architectural elements emerge as improbable and fluctuating forms. 'In the Yokohama terminal, the building itself becomes a surface of differing intensities and controlling traffic flows between the city and port, the inhabitants and the ship passengers. The surface becomes' pleated' to channel traffic lanes, while also playing its structural role. The ground swells up into an envelope to assert its operational role, enabling imperceptable movement between differing statuses that are both dynamic and static.
